Greenhouse type of space can be used instead of a typical collector

heated air is blown through duct to large bin of coarse gravel under the house.

air passes through and warms the gravel, storing the heat.

Later, at night, air is reversed and warm air is ducted into house.

Solar hot water = Water is heated as described in the previous post except it is routed through the house to fan coil units (typically) OR either to a heat exchanger at the furnace, radiant surfaces, registers or baseboard heaters.
