Mech/Elec ALS Lesson Two - Comfort, Climate and Solar Design: Passive - General

Passive solar design = uses the sun to heat the building without any moving parts or pumps. Also includes buildings which do NOT overheat because they are correctly designed.

passive system = system in which the collector device and the storage device are one and the same (i.e. , the structure)

Active system = system in which the collector and storage are separate (i.e., a collector on the roof and a storage tank in the basement).
